WHY CYON Prt 2

BENEFITS OF
BEING PART OF CYON

Spirituality: CYON offers the Church’s spirituality to all her members through early introduction to the Church’s lay societies for young people according to traits and specifics of the young person. These spiritual insights are strengthened in CYON through the organisation of novena, bible study and know your faith programs etc. This helps in the early detection of vocation of the young person.

Formation: The young mind is formed to be first and foremost a very responsible young mind that can hold his or her own opinions everywhere he or she finds himself or herself. Then to grow into adulthood who is unique and able to stand out among the crowd. He or she is able to steer clear peer pressure and the mediocrity of the young age.
This is usually achieved through youth empowerment programmes, seminars and workshops organized often by CYON to develop her members. The members are formed to be good followers, excellent leaders and responsible citizens for the Church and society

CYON educates her members, gives proper orientation and also empowers her members to be self sustainable and be able to provide for others. CYON offers opportunity for networking. Network between and among members horizontally and vertically.

MOTIVATION FOR LEADERSHIP VOLUNTEERING
CYON acknowledges the fact that the nature of every Christian drives individuals to seek ways to be at the service of others. Hence, motivation for leadership volunteering are targeted at three folds,
-On the personal level
-On the Organizational Level
-On the Societal level.

PERSONAL LEVEL
Young people feel confident, useful and proud of what they do through leadership volunteering. Motivation for leadership volunteering could be one of the following
-To have fun
-To make a difference
-To acquire a new skills and get to know new realities
-For growth and development
-To be with friends
To lead a spiritual life
-To desire to do something good for others
-To contribute to an initiative which is close to heart.

ORGANISATIONAL LEVEL
-Direct provision of service
-Capacity building of the organization
-Networking between various lay societies, solidarities within and outside the parish.

SOCIETY LEVEL
-Leadership Volunteering is a gift economy where service is regularly given without a monetary reward. It does not follow the logic of economy. Financial profit is never and will not be a motive.
-Connection to each other by experience, working in similar circumstances and facing similar challenges.
-Exploring various experiences especially in education, leadership and politics.
-Equip people with valuable skills and experiences.
What ever the reason for motivation is, CYON believes in promoting every good thing and continues to support young people to become more employable and shaping their reality in a meaningful manner.

CONCLUSION
God calls us in the morning of our lives. He asks for our hands, our skills, our love and our life. He invites us to where all our hearts’s desires will be fulfilled. Where our gift and power of endurance will be developed, our gifts of leadership exercised to the full. He invites us to where all the compassion and love in our young heart shall reach its full maturity and bear fruit that will last forever. God calls us not to idness but to ork; He needs our hands, our eyes, our ti=ongues and our heart. Listen now, do not wait till evening. It would be too late then, and you become wayfarer knocking at the door of an empty house.
